  1. I cannot believe that in this day and age a system can be designed that does not allow hyphens or colons to be entered in a comments field.

    I can't believe that in this day and age a system is designed that forbids common punctuation characters such as colon and hyphen in a comments field (when ordering a repeat prescription). This is amazingly irritating and completely unnecessary. "Null points"

      You can now enter a wide range of punctuation characters in the comment fields on Patient Access. The exact characters that are supported will depend on the version of your practice’s clinical system.

    • Allow parents to add their children on the same email address!

      My surgery gave me two letters, one for me and another for my 3 year old daughter.

      I've registered her, and now the site is telling me that I can't register myself on the same email address, and that each patient must have their own email address. Well obviously neither my 3 year old nor 1 year old have email addresses. And they don't have mobile phones either.

      Have I missed something, or is Patient.co.uk seriously suggesting that I set up email addresses for my kids? Patient confidentiality is understandable for adults, but children?

        The Patient Access team have confirmed that you should be able to register more than one account and use the same email address for each account. When registering, the Access account is created in the process before the email address is entered and there are no checks for duplicate emails when these are entered.

        I emailed some users separately about this to get details to look into any issues but never received any replies.

        If any user does get the situation where they want to register more than one account with the same email address and it will not allow it please reply to this email and I will take details.

          Hi Emma,
          At the moment this is individual practice policy so you would need to raise this with them. However, I have forwarded this on to the Access team to ask if anything can be done with the site and practice systems to avoid this situation.
          If other users think this idea is worth developing, please vote for it as it lets us see which ideas are most important to users.

        • Clarify words used for prescription status

          Why would, "issued", mean that my prescription not actually ready at the surgery yet, when, "accepted", means that it is? I'm still not sure what "issued" means in this context but I had a wasted trip to collect. How about something clearly understandable like, "collect", or, "ready", or, "ready for collection", or, "come and get it!". "Accepted", does not imply that it's ready whereas "issued" is more likely to imply that it's ready.

          How about some clear thinking and plain English?

          • I need to see my results online

            I use online facilities such as appointmetss and prescriptions for my medical practice. It is also useful to be able to access my medical records. Of these, by far the most important record for me is 'test results.' However, these are not available. (Trying results in error message) My practice manager tells me it is a software or programming issue, and that EMIS cannot givehim a date when this will be fixed.
            How hard can it be to fix this?!!! The problem has existed for months now, despite the fact that you have prioritized the issue.

              • Include patients NHS numbers in their details

                Adding a patient's NHS number would be helpful. It's sometimes needed to fill forms etc & most patients do not know what their number is. This would be any easy way of finding out & would prevent a call to the GP surgery.

                    While posting in the forums, one thing that I've noticed that has been frustrating is that when you spell something wrong you don't get that little red underline under the misspelled word. It would be SO helpful if you guys could create that. For instance, while typing this I mispelled "frustrating" and it underlined it to let me know. I think others would also find this a useful tool when posting within the forums.

                      As a practising pharmacist, I use your leaflets a lot during counselling or medication reviews. I'd simply like the ability to print a leaflet from within the iPad app to a wifi enable (AirPrint) printer...

                      As it stands, one has to use the share button to open in safari, and then print from the webpage...

                      I may as well just use the website for that...

                        • Add a speech - text option for you Patient Pro/Professional Reference iPad app

                          I am a final year Medical student with dyslexia and also a long daily commute to my placements (2-3 hr in car/day). There is a dearth of audio versions of medical information available to those of us with SpLDs o who find auditory learning preferential. I love having the speech-text option on your internet site, please could you incorporate this functionality into your Patient Pro apps? Or at least add an option so the articles can be opened/read by another text-speech app like ClaroSpeak? Thank you so much for the great resources you provide us with

                              The Patient Info app feels very much like it is just an extension of the website, rather than a standalone app.

                              Would it be possible to have a Healthcare Professional version, which apart from updates, did not need a connection, so we could download and have instant access to all the leaflets?!?

                                • Please allow more booked appointments or allow you to change it for a more suitable one.

                                  It would be useful if the system would allow you to book more than one appointment. From the FAQ answer this says its the individual practice that needs to increase the booking facility, however, if the appointment you had was no longer suitable if you could view the appointments that were available and choose another time it would be better. Instead of having the risk of cancelling the appointment you have then checking whats available only to find out, there isnt anything and the appointment you have just cancelled has now also been snapped up....                                   • Fix the 1st screen that asks to put in your location

                                    I typed in "Wolverhampton" and it came back as 'no such place' (or something similar. Went down the list of 'popular' places, found Wolverhampton, and it worked from there.

                                      Thanks for letting us know. There are a few searches that this happens with and it has been reported. In the meantime you can use your postcode in the search box which will return the appropriate area.

                                        An updates every time there is activity on a forum is too much and a weekly update is not often enough.
